Strawberry Season Is Upon Us
May 14, 2009 It's May, and that means it's Strawberry Time.
I've been buying local strawberries every week since the farm down the street opened its doors, and I. Can't. Get. Enough. These suckers are the real thing. Where the inside is just as red as the outside and not white and hard and weird? Oh yeah. Delish.
Really good strawberries don't need any extra help, but sometimes it's fun to add a little extra sugar to the mix. Enter Strawberry Trifle.
This is one of the best desserts to make in the summer, especially when you have a multitude of little red gems to gobble up. All you do is layer broken up chunks of angel food cake, cut up strawberries (no extra sugar, please), and Cool Whip. Done. Not super fancy, but it's simple and PERFECT.
Also, I want you to get another look at these berries.
That color red only exists in cartoons I think. I'm in love. I hope May stays around a LONG time.

Strawberries are my favorite fruit. You are so right, no extra sugar needed. They are candy on their own.
Mmmm.. strawberries are my favorite summer fruit. Those look so delicious!
Another strawberry lover here! And, yep... they are my favorite fruit, too. Mmmmm....
Our local strawberry season is long gone. :( I miss all that lovely red goodness! Nothing like mashing them up and serving them over shortcake or vanilla ice cream. You need to gain weight, right? LOL!
