Your Kitchen Elf to the Rescue
December 7, 2009 It's the season of stressing out over buying gifts, and I thought I'd give you some ideas. And if you're finished with shopping, we're all jealous of you, you little overachiever. And if you still are in the buying mood, I love presents.
First, a note on my gift-giving philosophy. I like getting things for people that they wouldn't normally get for themselves. Frilly, splurgy things. Slightly practical. Mostly unnecessary. Perfectly awesome. This is a list of things that anyone would love to have in their kitchen and would most certainly use and enjoy; they just might not be smart enough to think of it themselves. You'll be a rock star.
Now for the gifts. Hope you get inspired.
- The Flavor Bible
If you aren't convinced yet of my love for this book, you haven't been hanging around me very long. I. Love. This. Book. It lists ingredients that go together so you can have fun in the kitchen. For real, y'all. It's awesome. - nonstick spoon
This is one of my essential kitchen tools that most people don't have. It combines the strength of a wooden spoon with the nonstick-ness of a spatula. It's beautiful and would totally be used in anyone's kitchen. Ten bucks. Fits in a stocking. Cha-ching! - reusable bags
Yes, these are all the rage, but if you're like me, you use a gallimaufry (dictionary.com Word of the Day meaning a hodgepodge or jumble... words rock) of bags you get from your Clinique free gift and last summer's trip to the beach and whatever is laying around your house. These match, are uh-DORable, and would be so fun for anyone. A little bit pricey by my standards, but for that person that has everything, money in the bank, peeps. - cookie cutters
I collect wooden spoons. I'm about to start collecting cookie cutters if I don't get away from this website. LOADS of shapes. I'm talking a bazillion cookie cutters that would be super awesome for any kitchen. You know when you see those photos of Christmas cookies in all the magazines of flowers and stars and ducks and bells and every other shape you don't have? No need to be jealous any longer. Buy some cookie cutters for yourself and your friends. So cute, and maybe you'll get to taste the fun your friends will have. Score. - linen napkins
Random, but beautiful cloth napkins should be in everyone's home, and it's not something most people get for themselves. Hunt around, but gorgeous napkins are in lots of places. Wrap them up twine and a note about how much you enjoy having dinner with that person... or something. - ceramic peeler
LOVE these. If you want beautifully peeled carrots (and anything else with a thin peel), this thing rocks. It's not great for potatoes and its thick-skinned buddies, but it's awesome for everything else. Sharp is all get out, doesn't rust, and super cute.
So there are a few ideas for you. Got any of your own? I'd love to know. I'm pretty sure I'll have some Christmas money to spend in 2010, and I can start making my list now.

What a perfectly, practical, relevant post. Great ideas!
Hi - I can vouch for the nonstick spoon. I got one a few months back and think I might get one for my mom, and two sisters. A must have!!!
A lot of specialists state that loan help people to live their own way, because they are able to feel free to buy needed stuff. Moreover, different banks present commercial loan for young and old people.
Perfect World Money is important for any character in the game. You can fool around with this too by adding int if you want more money or a hard hitting weapon. You could also use your gold to make a tank so you can debuff people. You can also make potions and sell them for a ton of money. If you're being forced to defend your base you're still going to be going for attack items and buy Cheap Perfect World Gold.
