Butter-Suckin' Hotdogs

Reader Comments (104)

Kendra, this was fun to watch for so many reasons. One of them being Kaz's huge hot dog bite at the end. On a more serious note, I love grilled hot dogs but in an apartment, without a grill, the only way I knew to cook dogs was to microwave them. Glad to have this for our Labor Day weekend!

Who knew? Butter and a hotdog bun. Seriously will be using this tip. I love it. I started watching because I was getting ready to download your 7 layer cookie recipe, and by the end, BOTH of my guys were watching. Hunter actually leapt into my lap when he saw you on screen! :) love ya girl ... and i love the video element. NICE.

*drool* I want a hotdog soooooo bad now but I have no buns and I'm doing Weight Watchers.

Man, those looked good! You're almost as bad as the Pioneer Woman w/ the food porn. ;)

Oh My! I thought I had a corner on hot dogs by wrapping them in bacon, but honestly, butter makes everything better! I can't wait to try this! If only it was not cold and snowy!!

I like to make my buns in a similar way, but I open them up and lay the open side down - gives the inside that crunchy butter yumminess, keeps the ketchup and what not from soaking into the bun immediately, and keeps the grease off my hands!

WOW! those look awesome!! I was going to make dogs for dinner tonight, now I'm glad I decided to wait until tomorrow, we're going to give this a try!

I've done something similar outside on the grill with my burgers - I press the open bun on the greasy cooked burger, then lay it on the grill to toast -

Love the video - and the bun idea. I would have never in a million years have thought of that. My husband will thank you for this one!

Just in time for my daughter's birthday who insisted on hot dogs. If I can't use the french toast recipe at least I can try this. Happy SITS day!

Wow, what a great idea!
And I love the video, it's a great way to show us how it's done. This was better than some cooking shows I have watched!

I have always grilled my hotdogs, but (with hotdog and hamburger) I have always split the buns open, spread them with butter and then grilled them face down so as to get a nice golden brown buttery crispness on the inside. This not only tastes good but it keeps the bun from getting soggy from the condiments.
