Cleaning Your Garbage Disposal

Has your kitchen ever had a smell that you couldn't quite find? Usually, mine comes from the sink, i.e. the garbage disposal. So how do you clean it? It's super simple.

  1. Run the disposal with a handful of ice cubes. This grabs the food and gross stuff from all the little crevices.
  2. Cut a lime into wedges, throw them in your disposal, and run it. Happy smells! I like limes better than lemons because they're cheaper, I like the smell, and the peel is thinner and thus a little easier on the disposal.

Be sure to regularly disinfect your sink; the sink is one of the dirtiest, germiest spots in the home, and the disposal is a great place to start.

Oh Kendra. You make me wish I had a disposal to clean.
