Cleaning Your Garbage Disposal
August 13, 2008 Has your kitchen ever had a smell that you couldn't quite find? Usually, mine comes from the sink, i.e. the garbage disposal. So how do you clean it? It's super simple.
- Run the disposal with a handful of ice cubes. This grabs the food and gross stuff from all the little crevices.

- Cut a lime into wedges, throw them in your disposal, and run it. Happy smells! I like limes better than lemons because they're cheaper, I like the smell, and the peel is thinner and thus a little easier on the disposal.
Be sure to regularly disinfect your sink; the sink is one of the dirtiest, germiest spots in the home, and the disposal is a great place to start.

Oh Kendra. You make me wish I had a disposal to clean.
Our new house has a diposal...never had one before this. I do the lemon/lime thing, but never thought about the ice. Thanks!
