A Unique Gift for Moms

This is my family. Cute, aren't we? We're also a little slow on the draw. This was taken last weekend; we were celebrating Mother's Day. I know it's October. Again, SLOW on the draw.

Instead of getting Mom a candle or a new sweater or something she would like but not really remember, the sisters decided to give her an experience. Last year, it was lunch at a super cute tea room followed by manis and pedis. This year? A cooking class!

Mom wanted to learn how to make pad Thai. I already told you about that failure. I'm not giving up, people. I'm GOING to make a great pad Thai. I'm serious enough to put it on my bucket list or whatever.

Sidenote. I just realized I don't have a bucket list. That's messed up. For those of you who don't know me very well, I'm. Obsessed. With. Lists. Love them. I probably make at least four a day. It's bliss when I'm figuring out my top movie star swooners (George Clooney is the current champ, but Matt Damon is making a case), fake fictional boyfriends (Jim Halpert, please!), or what words to use in Wordle (chocolate, sushi, blerg). A bucket list is a necessity.

Back to the class. Since the original plan was a bust, we went with the Girls' Night Out class instead. Even though it was 11am on a Saturday, we were still girls and still (sort of) out. Many creations with puff pastry, phyllo dough, and canned biscuits (yeah, I said it) graced our greasy lips. And even though Mom was sick, we had a blast. So no food pictures (we ate too fast), but you can see the happiness oozing out of us from the wonderful gift of an experience. (Sorry, Mom. Your eyes were closed in all of them. Except the one with your apron over your head.)

Any ideas for a fun experience gift? I'm all about some new ideas.

Thats such a great shot, very cute family!! My sisters, mom and I should do a little cooking adventure together...it's been years. The last time, my mom taught us how to make Chinese sticky rice.

That looks like so much fun! Love the pic of you all in your matching aprons. I'm just popping over from SITS.

How fun! My mom and her three sisters are coming to town next weekend and a cooking class is on our list (lists! yea!) - such a fun group outing!

You mean I’m not the only person who writes half a dozen lists out a day? Oh thank goodness! You’d think I’d be more organized all things considered but no…

Sounds like a great mother daughter evening, except for the sick bit.
